Heya going WCC! My names Rob and I'm 29. I was tagging along in the BA with other Rob (Heatseeker) today at the photoshoot. I'm a delivery driver, but haven't lost my installing skills (car alarms/immobilisers etc) from back in the day. I use to be a one-eyed Ford fan, but nowdays I'm a little more open, especially to the older stuff. My daily is a 98 EL Wagon with a few creature comforts. I've let him slide a little over the years, but he never lets me down and I'm trying to get him looking a little nicer again. I recently acquired a 1981 Corolla Coupe - this'll be my first project car. She's not in such good shape at the moment, but you'll know about it when she is!!

Anyways, after seeing the crowd today I shall look forward to coming out again soon.

Rob, good to see you joined mate. It was good to meet you today with other Rob. Its great to see a variety of people with different cars coming on board joing the club.

Is the corolla a CS? I forgot to ask you that as most of the KE55 coupes are CS. I had a mate that had one of them. Good old 4K motor with a 5 speed in it. Hey, do you know those motors will rev to 9K. They are a revy little engine when done up. Not that your gona use the 4K motor anyway :P

Hi, great to have you in the club.
Yes it is really good that we are starting to see a much wider variety of cars.
Its cool that you have a project car, I also have a project car, a HB Torana, but it will be quite some time before I ge the cash to make a start.

Thanks guys/gals! Yeah the lil 4Ks take an absolute punishing to say the least. I had a KE70 as a bush basher a few years back. The car was ugly as sin, but man it went places a lot of family 4x4s will probably never see!

My lil coupe is in std form at the moment, with the 4K being attached to a horrible 3 speed auto. She has factory A/C, original AM radio and tape player (2 separate components!??). The rear 1/4 windows wind down leaving it pillarless with fronts down also, which I found quite intriguing. Will try to dig out a pic or 2 of this and the wagon. :)

I havent seen wind down rear windows on a coupe since the Mustang that came into work!! Thats awesome.

Cheers! Will the 1J fit? So far I'm toying with ideas of either a Toyota/Nissan powered 4-banger/hairdryer combo, or maybe a Commo V6... Still undecided, but not yet cashed up for it anyway. Also have to allocate a little TLC for the wagon while he still goes.

1J is a 6?? Most likely won't fit. SR20 isn't a bad idea though, and there is plenty of info on the swap as well

The 1JZ fit with some firewall modifications. It looked a fucking treat too. I didn't hear it going but it definitely would have gone hard.

Look at it this way, you have a clean slate to start with if you want to walk that path.
