as most know my rb25 was running 320rwhp(ish) for 18months.
ran for that long with no rev limiter which was fun while it lasted, car started driving average then few months later had fun tow ride home.
been slowing pulling it apart, this is progress so far.
line:
OVABOOST
was bout 320rwhp was good for more but the stock injectors were at their max
engine is out now, just waiting for someone to come give me a hand with the fkn cylinder head bolts! hopefully by then end of the week.
plans:
was thinking of throwing a r33 gtr motor in her but got screwed around by some doosh on skylines australia, now will start making decisions once get the head off..
open to peoples ideas etc
build this rb25? rb25/30??
will throw few other pics up later if cbf

Seriously, 25/30 isn't much extra work, but a FARK load more torque!!! My 25 will be coming out (one day...) to be replaced with a build RB25/30. Some people prefer to stick with the original, but you've already done the 25 swap (far better then the 20 imo) so sticking to the original is obviously not a priority. Lol.
Can I ask, why didn't you have a rev limiter???

I was going to say...
The RB30 has an 86.0 mm bore and the RB20 has a 78.0 mm bore.
No workies.

Actually you can make a 20/30, someone in Perth had one when they're car was imported, but no workies well!
Omfg, your a legend mate!! Thank you so much for that info, exactly what I need to get started
Now... Does anyone have $15k I can have for the engine build/conversion?

You can make it work but there's a lot of fucking around and cost to get it sorted.
Why bother when a 25DE head will bolt up and retain all of the RB20 wiring and sensors?

i havent done muchhh research into the rb25/30 as i only just got my rb25 registered to this car few months ago but also because of that bogan in the vl on the cruise ages ago who was running all that ebay shit and 400rwhp who was saying he'd been through about 3 bottom ends as the 30 non turbo bottom end wasnt handling the boost..?
im keen to throw something bigger into it tho but the only other option would be forged internals..
the old engine bay
all the wiring looks shit and was done pretty average from the 25 conversion (which was done at a shop!) i've spent ALOT of time rewiring things, im gonna be relocating the battery in the boot im hoping that things will go well.
also considering respraying the engine bay while the motor is out dont know wether to paint it black or purple to match
also chassing a fwd facing plenum, some hks cam gears n some thermo fans

I'd say the main reasons would be he's a bogan, using eBay parts, and he's obviously cheap so he's skimmed out on the tuning. Tune it right, and she'll be just dardy for you. Although for ultra reliability, throw some forgies in there.

I think he was just a fuckwitt. The RB30 bottom end will take 600hp in stock form. Just ask RIPS.
You can't just get a shitload of stuff, chuck it onto your engine and expect it to take the abuse you hand it.
When I was talking to him he told me that he used 2 head gaskets to decompress the engine. FAIL.
I bought a decompression plate. Do not skimp and you'll be fine.

26/30 now? haha yeah maybe if that doosh on skylines aus hadnt jerked me around! i havent looked to mch into the 25/30 will keep an eye out in the quokka and if something relativley cheap turns up i'll buy it, tho gotta buy one fro a vl yeah ?? as the r31's are different or something..will look into it a bit ore.
in other news i still havent got the engine apart need to get the head off but its a 2 man job
while ive been waiting i boght a greddy plenum n looking into an adjstable fpr also sent my stock injectors to the U.S company over there will give ya $150usd for them, more play money.

You need a series 2 RB30 block man, either from a VL or an R31. They have the feed and return line taps.
Have a look at the link I posted earlier, it shows you what you need to do.
In your case, a 25DET head will suffice.
Using a 26DETT head will warrant a rewire but as you're already set up for a 25DET, go for it, they'll still flow a fuckload.
In my case a 25NA head uses the existing RB20 wiring and ECU so I don't have to fuck around with that area. I can use a 26DETT head, but I'll need to run a 26 ECU and wiring harness which is stupid because the 25NA head will flow the power I'll be putting into it.

Yeah, like Allen said, if you buy a S2 block, the water jackets all line up. Otherwise, the S1's require you to redrill a few. All R31's have S2 blocks, whereas half the VLs have S1s. Hope that helps!
Who is this company that pays $150 for stock injectors????? I'm sooooo doing that
