Hey all,

I am considering upgrading my brakes to Brembos, and just wanted to find out if i was to use some stock ones from a GTR, what ones would fit? I imagine it would be R33 GTR Brembos? My car currently has R33 GTST brakes, so i am i correct to assume that 33 GTR Brembos would fit? Or if not, which ones?

STI Brembos fit straight up to the rears, R33 Brembos do bolt up to the front, but you'll need new bolts.

Now, let's get more interesting...
Evo Brembos are cheaper, bigger, and fit up with a spacer/dog-leg bracket
AP Brakes have a set better then Brembos, and will bolt straight up.
Project MU brakes, at a measly $13k for the front, WILL slam your brain against your skull :D
Or just sell the family home for some R35 brakes :D

But in all seriousness, decent pads, disks, lines and fluid is all you really need. Skyline brakes are really pretty good!

Yeh it is only an idea. More for the wank factor of Brembos than their stopping power, my brakes will suffice i'm sure. The idea just came to me because i'm looking at buying some new wheels, and i was thinking about offset and wondered if i should upgrade to Brembos while i'm at it. But i'll probably scrap that idea and just get some braided brake lines and slotted rotors for the rear.

GTR Brembos aren't a huge upgrade though, so only worth doing if you can get them cheap. Project MUs are crazy expensive. AP or even G4 are ok as well.
Or another option is to put some spacers on your calipers so you can run much bigger disks. After all, it's the surface area that increases stopping ability.

Or hell, just throw an air brake on like the Veyron!! :P

Yeh that's why i was considering GTR Brembos Rhys, you can sometimes find them pretty cheap and then they are still a decent upgrade. I would love Project MU, or even K-Sport, but i can't afford them :(

Drifting doesn't require a crazy wash off of speed, so not necessary for drifting. Track is where it's at though, although don't underestimate the necessity of decent brakes on a street car.

Yeh Project MU have 4-pot, 6-pot and 8-pot kits, so the 4-pot would be great for the street driving and occasional track use that my car sees. But hugely expensive

Just jumping in the thread. I'll be getting Project Mu Rotors and pads soon to go on. I think I'll be pulling up pretty damn quickly!

So I'm doing a slight brake upgrade before the Track Day.

I already have installed Evo 8 Brembo calipers and braided brake lines. However soon I will also have DBA-4000 Slotted Rotors up front with Project Mu B-Spec pads, Project Mu NS pads in the back as well as a new high temp brake fluid. Should take a hammering :)

Mmmm... Nice! Let us know how it goes, it's basically what I was looking at for the 33, Brembos, and Mus.

Nice Lachlan :) I've got the 33R Brembo's, braided brake lines, EBC Green stuff pads on the front, Project MU pads on the back, and Motul Dot 5.1 brake fluid. I wanna make the master cylinder stopper as well before the track day :D
