I still recommend doing all the hoses while it's out!! I only say that because I've replaced them before I side the engine bay, and it's not cool! Just ask KYP how much it'll be to replace it all out of the car.

Other then that, seems to be coming along nicely!

I agree. you should replace all the hoses with better ones while the motor is still out. Good luck with getting the loan

Again, i need to think of resale. Nobody wants to buy a car that has had an engine conversion done by a couple of blokes in their backyard. They may be mechanics, but they work for places like Western Power and Westrac. Not exactly house hold names in the high performance car scene

Yeah fair enough but are you really going to sell your car down the track?

At this stage i would say yes, the plan is still to get an R34 GTR some time in the future. But i have no idea what will happen in the future... I gotta plan as if i will sell it though, because if something happens and i need to sell it then i don't want to have huge trouble getting rid of it.

Yeah thats a good call, I prob would do the same thing if i was to do a engine conversion. I want to get a R34 GTR too but I also was thinking about getting a RB26DETT engine conversion into my 34 and converting it to RWD which would be expensive but would be awesome.

So the full cost of this conversion including the stuff i bought myself is going to be $8700.

Dude. You're going to be spending more than $8k.

:bash:

Really?

Allen: The mastermind of WCC :P

RWD better then AWD. Just 26 your 34 and you'll never have to sell it. Like Brett did!

I looked into putting a 26 in it, would cost closer to 13k. Not doin it.

Allen that final cost is including new gauges, alarm chip for the turbo timer, silicon radiator hoses, all new gaskets, etc. All stuff that wasn't REALLY necessary but i want to do anyway. If i just did the necessities then it would be closer to 7k final price. I'm just choosing to do it the more expensive way

No, cheaper way. In the long run, you'd have to do all that stuff anyway, but spend WAAAAAYY more on labour.

Do it right, do it once.

Exactly, that's what i decided. But essentially i don't NEED to do any of it. It isn't necessary for the conversion, it is necessary for myself.

Also the fact that i'm buying metal gaskets, silicon piping, and brand new parts instead of used; makes it a bit more expensive as well. So technically i was right when i said i shouldn't have to spend more than 8k, i'm just choosing too

I agree with Rhys do it right the first time you will save yourself alot of problems and money down the track. If I was to do a engine conversion I would do the exact same thing

If it was an engine conversion, I'd be puttig in a built RB25/30 full of braided lines and biiig turbo, throwing it into a completely detailed engine bay, but I think Martin and I have different preferences at the moment :P

But I must commend you Martin, your doing well. Spending the extra money and going that little bit further. Looking forward to hearing your GT dose :P Not looking forward to the day your car leaves me for dead off the line though... ;)

Lol the day my car is faster than yours is still a little while away Rhys ;)

I would love to put a built motor in to my car. I would love to put an RB26 in. I'd even more love to put an RB30DETT in. So many things i'd love to do, but i'm being realistic, this is what I can afford. And to be honest i'm gonna love it. I love Neo engine's, they sound sweet, they go hard, and they are fun to play with without being too expensive to get parts for like a 26.

So i guess it's time for a bit of an update about what my plans are for after the conversion, now that i have an approximate date set. Seeing as my car currently has a 2.5" cat-back exhaust, i will be using that at first. It will be a bit of a restriction and lose me some power, so that will be the first thing i change. I will be buying a stainless steel 3" dump-pipe, hi-flow cat, and am yet to decide what cat-back system i want. Got plenty of time to think about it and get what i want. That should net me some decent power.

I think after that i will be looking for a new turbo, i would like to be able to safely run at least 16psi with the potential to run more, and have a steel compressor wheel. Also want it to be a direct replacement for the RB25 turbo, don't wanna have to mess around with housings and flanges and the like. I am still unsure exactly what turbo i need to suit all those requirements, i haven't looked into it that much yet. Trying not to get too carried away when i haven't even got the turbo motor yet, but that is what i have though of so far.

Thoughts?
