Already tried that, I've used multigrips, vicegrips, you name it
The whole shift lever just unscrews, I can't unscrew the knob.

Would damage the knob for one, but I don't like unscrewing the lever. Hard to get back in.

Wait, heatshrink over what? The top of the shift knob or underneath or? That sounds perfect!

Gonna go and remove my heatshield now, god knows KYP would be confused by it and damage it trying to remove it

I think he means the thread of the gearstick then put the knob over that. Do you have a short shifter? Cos mine has another bit that the knob attatches to that sits over the short shifter. It used to be stiff, but now spins freely making it almost impossible to get off. But cos of that, I can take it off and put the bottom bit in the vice so any damage caused will be hidden. Is yours a similar system? Cos no gearstick screws out of the gearbox, they're all held in with circlips.

It was short when I had the RB20 box, when they put it in this box it feels like a normal shifter. Gonna get a Nismo or C's short shifter later.
I was fairly sure it was the shifter that screwed out because I've done it before. Thought I was unscrewing the knob, all of a sudden the shifter just dropped and I could move the whole thing around like there were no gates. Was a pain in the ass to get back in, just lucky I remembered what gear it was in.

Ok, got the shift knob off this morning. Put thread tape around the lever, seems to be working, it was nice and tight on the way to kyp, no rattling. Will see if it lasts.
Car is at kyp now, apparently Ben never disconnected my boost controller lol. I thought it was meant to turn on with the car? Mine never turns on...
I don't think Ben will be able to get the turbo timer working either, I think it is an issue with my alarm system. Fuckin thing has caused me nothing but headaches since I got it.

I know. But it's just another person that I have to pay. I hate other people doing shit to my car, it means I have absolutely no idea what they have done. I shouldn't have to take my car to 10 different places just to get something working, why can't cunts that do this sort of shit for a living actually do a good job? You would think that if you got into that sort of work then you would actually enjoy doing it and not go about doing everything fucking half assed and giving anybody that ever uses that car headaches for the rest of it's existence.
I hate to say it, but it's actually such an Australian thing. Only in Australia do businesses promote themselves by saying "guaranteed to be on time", or "100% customer satisfaction guarantee". Anywhere else in the world (speaking from experience here, not out my ass), those things are a minimum expectation, you don't expect any less.

Sadly, that's reality of this place. Sucks, but you need to work around it. I can understand why you don't like people touching your car, I'm exactly the same.
Callum or Allen might be able to help you out? You trust them, don't you?

Yeh I know One of the few downsides to Australia, I still love it here though!
Tiddy will probs be able to help me out I don't really want to ask Allen unless I get really stuck, because of the whole people taking advantage thing. Don't want to come across like that. But yeh, I'll ask Tiddy, always good to have a sparky friend. If the boost controller and turbo timer don't work when I get it back, things are really gonna be piling up for him to look at though lol.

Ok well in the end it wasn't as bad as I had feared, kyp did everything free of charge so I guess I can't complain about that. They have done something wrong wiring up my gauges though, the oil temperature gauge is working now but the water temperature still doesn't get a reading. So I will have to trace their wire and find out what they have done.
On the bright side, boost controller is now working and I am hitting full boost (11psi) at 3000rpm, car really pulls hard now! Lol. I have set the boost back to stock though as the car was hitting r&r on the high boost setting so I need to get it tuned now.
I am also booked in on Thursday with Identimark to get my turbo timer working, so that is all good as well. Will get them to check their install at the same time as I think it is the cause of my electrical problems.
I have also finally installed my Sparco seats, they are awesome will post pictures a bit later.
Going to install my fuel pump this afternoon, and will hopefully finish off my engine cover as well. Then the only things left to do will be wire in my mfd, replace my vacuum hoses ith silicone ones, and get the nistune installed and tuned.

Ok well I got my water gauge working, turns out they didn't wire it wrong they just didn't earth the sensor adapter.
Didn't get the fuel pump or engine cover finished, was trying to wire my high/low boost switch instead but found Jaycar sold me the wrong type of switch

Haha it's not complicated, it's so simple.
But I'm turning the boost controller off now, KYP have fucked up the settings. High boost is set to about 18psi, not good on stock turbo Response and gain is all fubarred on low boost, getting about 4psi until 5000rpm and then it jumps to 10psi. So fucked.
Booked in at Hyperdrive for the 6th of September, Andrew said he will sort it out. Until then I'm just gonna have to switch it off
