I'm not a fan of silencers either. Give it a few days, you'll get used to the sound. What muffler did you end up using?

Yeh I'll wait until I have my front/dump pipe on as well, that should give me a bit more boost volume. My car is boosting up to 8.5psi now though Hope my fuel pump stands up to it. Really I just miss hearing the turbo, it spooled so loudly before an now I feel like I'm driving a V8 lol.
It is seriously loud though haha, straight cut exhaust with 100 cell high flow cat and rather small cannon muffler... I went with one of these mufflers Rhys: 3 INCH INLET TURBO RACING EXHAUST MUFFLER SILENCER 06PT: eBay Motors (item 250517015776 end time Aug-15-10 20:21:12 PDT)
Very nice looking muffler, but 5" body isn't big enough to quieten down the exhaust very much lol

don't want to boost it with the silencer in place.
Yeah, gives a whole new meaning to "cannon".

Yeh was reading somewhere that a dude blew his exhaust manifold gasket, turbo gasket and his turbine by boosting with a silencer in. Too much back pressure just created too much heat.

Potato cannon?
Using a cheap cannon like that probably doesn't help, aye. I wanna get 2 small Kakimoto cannons, best sounding mufflers I've ever heard!

Just while I remember, gonna go into KYP on Monday to get them to check out my clutch/gearbox. Kermit thinks they have fucked something up. When you 'ride' the clutch at all or just don't take off nicely especially in reverse, the clutch sounds like it is knocking against something. Very loud noise and you can actually feel it. I had put it down to my clutch being an organic racing clutch, I thought that they just want to bite on and go so if you ride them at all then they don't like it. But Kermit said he has driven triple plates, twin plates, organics, ceramics, you name it, none of them did that. So gonna get it checked out.
I also have a noise coming from my gearbox/clutch when I'm in neutral and I take the clutch out, sounds like a whirring/grinding noise which I think is the input shaft bearing.

Price doesn't really matter much, it's a pretty good quality muffler. If you want quiet you need a bigger body. My cannon has a bit of a small body so it doesn't do much muffling.

Mine does it too, just a worn bearing as you say, i can only really hear mine when it's dead quiet.

Ya, my 33gtr had that too.
On exhaust topic, when allen installed stainless front pipe onto my 33gtr, i was like wtf is that hissing noise.. (BTW my 33 only had a tiiiny hotdog resonator)
After 5mins of worried allen thinking he missed a bolt, he told me stainless > stock and huuuge spool increase sond

Yeh I'm not worried about the input shaft bearing, have been told it's just annoying it's not a problem. Can't hear it over my new exhaust anyway lol. It's the knocking/chattering/vibrating that I'm worried about now. Thing is Walker's car does it as well which is why I thought it is normal. So I'm gonna take it back to KYP and then maybe take it to Walker's mechanic for a second opinion depending on what KYP say.
James, I certainly hope so lol. Tom's old Patrol had a 3" dump pipe and you couldn't hear the engine over the turbo lol, that's what I want

One I installed my stainless split pipe to the cat, the sound of the turbine spooling grew by about 200%.
I likey.
