What a shame the Manly Construction Workers lost their keys in the sand on the first challenge. that must have been dissapointing. I hear they were toally blitzing the first challenge too.

I think for the next one we will make it a first to the finish is the winner. We had the mystery time to try and avoid speeding, although Its a shame that the teams that do the tasks really well and make good time are then out of the winnings. It has given a few things to think about anyway. Any suggestions or the next one would be great.

Its the little things in life that count.

I don't think first to the finish line is a good way to do it because then people will speed. I suggest a points based system, judged on how the teams do in the activities and not in the traveling. Then the focus is more to do well in the activities, not to be fast in-between checkpoints.

true to an extent martin but look at the first leg where i didnt speed but took the best course (not down scarborough beach rd) and was at least 5-10 min ahead of some ppl now that has to be taken in to consideration and as i know good rd's to take but am not exactly the best at some challenges (look at the rope pictures) its an overall thing i am not a fan of mystery time i think if u speed its ur own choice but simply drive within ur limits and road conditions but hey lets see what marianne comes up with as she has done a bloody brillant job today
Always remember that I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me. An alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do. Don't drink and drive, you might hit a bump and spill your drink. You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on. Stay busy, get plenty of exercise, and don't drink too much. Then again, don't drink too little. Time is never wasted when you're wasted all the time. One reason I don't drink is that I want to know when I am having a good time. A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine, except that on a day without sunshine you can still get drunk. I stopped drinking, but only when I sleep. This is one of the disadvantages of wine: it makes a man mistake words for thought. Cigarettes and coffee: an alcoholic's best friend !!!! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they always worked for me. The consumption of alcohol may cause pregnancy. A man who exposes himself when he is intoxicated, has not the art of getting drunk. A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory. I drink to forget I drink. Alcohol is necessary for a man so that he can have a good opinion of himself, undisturbed be the facts. Once, during Prohibition, I was forced to live for days on nothing but food and water. The whole world is about three drinks behind. I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

It's a fair point i guess... I think it is difficult to keep it in the theme of the amazing race if we take out the traveling time, because then it just becomes a cruise with activities at the meet points... Fair call Scott.

Marianne did a very good job with it, it was extremely fun in any case and we really couldn't have cared less if we had won or not. How to do it in the future is hard, because the last thing we want is people hooning around and possibly having an accident, we definitely do not want to damage the reputation of WCC or build a reputation as a hoon club. And you know that if prize money is involved then people are going to drive dangerously, especially as this event gets bigger and bigger...

All good points, it seems the Mystery time is the way to go to avoid making it a race, i wonder if maybe timing each team and recording their total time to complete each task and then giving a prize to the team that has the fastest task times, but making it a lesser prize compared to 1st 2nd etc closest to the total mystery time. I did spend a lot of time thinking about this for this event. I think the mystery time did its job in detering people from speeding, plus the double demerit weekend would have helped too.

I know that most the fun is really just taking part.

Im also considering for the next one having a paid task, as in a task that will cost a little bit of money to do, such as target shooting, super/mini golf, rock climbing, absailing etc, but this will depend on how the majority feel about the expense, I think it could be made pretty exciting though.

Its the little things in life that count.

I do agree. Doing a paid activity would make it more exciting to do. It would depend on peoples choices tho.

I think some of the tasks is were teams can also gain alot of time doing the event. Look at The Manly Construction Workers. They rocked up to the first task at about 4th position and then easily got into the lead by being wize doing the task coming out in front of everyone by miles. Unfortunetly they returned to find Tim's immobiliser key lost in the sand. They gained alot of time on that event showing that anything can change. But once again, it was all about the average time over the whole course of the event. It made it interesting.

The mystery time evens the playing field for sure! Makes it fair, doesn't matter what car you drive, who is good at the challenges, etc.

I also agree paid tasks would be fun. I think it would be awesome, a whole day where you do things like rock climbing, target shooting etc. It would be win, who cares about the cost!?

yeah i agree but u would need to work out total cost before hand so people could bring enough money and budget for the event

If there's enough team's perhaps...

- A couple of prizes to the overall fastest teams
- A couple of prizes to the teams to finish challenges the quickest
- Best Dressed Prize
- 2nd last prize (to avoid purposly losing)

This would mean doing an overall timing aswell as timing each individual challenge.

And next time may I suggest nothing that gets teams too wet and/or too dirty (ie the beach). Jess and I almost both wore our ~$250 pairs of shoes. They are NOT going anywhere near the water! :P
Not to mention people in car clubs generally like to keep their cars clean :)

Besides task #1 it was a good race/rally! More teams involved and therefore more teams cruising together towards challenges would be great.

Lol yeh i was wearing my $280 K-Swiss's. But i think that challenge was awesome, she did tell us that we should wear proper clothing. I'm a bit annoyed about all the sand in my car now, but i clean it like every 3 days anyway, so it will be clean again soon :) Definitely worth it for how fun it was. I actually think that challenge was the best one because it was the most like the actual Amazing Race. The rest was just a treasure hunt basically

Dude you had electric tape wrapped around your shoe holding the bottom tread on from flapping around. The things look like they were bin material.

Lets face it, everyone was ok with it plus you didn't have the use your shoes. It was the fact that you were copying everyone else of what they were doing and not using your brains using a shirt or socks etc. There was other options but you persisted to not help Jess spitting the dummy about using your shoes and choose not to participate in the task at all. Look at the photo dude with you sitting on the beach. Scotts just looking at you thinking WTF? You were just having a upset moment.

I didn't know anyone could be so scared of sand and water.
