As some of you know I'm looking at getting a new car. The R34's good and all (and I don't mind an auto) but the box is very limiting and I want something different and more... well... manual.
I currently have an importer (Iron Chef) looking for a low km, type-s, manual, Mitsubishi Legnum for me. I quite like these as they are rare, cheap and come with a nice options list from factory (Options include recaro/leather interior, touch screen climate control, sunroof etc.) I also love wagons and are quite partial to the styling.
The same importer currently has a 1999 Series 8 RX-7 for sale. $19,900 landed and complied. It's red, manual, twin turbo and has 80,000kms on the clock (with books).
I have a budget of ~$20,000 to spend on my new car. I'd love a GT-R/Skyline but don't want anything too old (this rules out R32 GT-R's) and good R33 GT-R's are still a little too expensive. And coming from an R34 I don't really want another.
So what do you guys think? Cool wagon in a Legnum or sweet coupe in an RX-7?

New Car!

Thats a tough one aye... 6 months ago i would have said the RX7 hands down. But wagons have grown on me, Stagea's and Legnums are great cars. The RX7 is awesome though...
I say go the RX7. They are also rare, and you are still young, stay with the sports car
Legnums are awesome, but wouldn't it be cool to have as a family car?

Always remember that I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me. An alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do. Don't drink and drive, you might hit a bump and spill your drink. You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on. Stay busy, get plenty of exercise, and don't drink too much. Then again, don't drink too little. Time is never wasted when you're wasted all the time. One reason I don't drink is that I want to know when I am having a good time. A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine, except that on a day without sunshine you can still get drunk. I stopped drinking, but only when I sleep. This is one of the disadvantages of wine: it makes a man mistake words for thought. Cigarettes and coffee: an alcoholic's best friend !!!! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they always worked for me. The consumption of alcohol may cause pregnancy. A man who exposes himself when he is intoxicated, has not the art of getting drunk. A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory. I drink to forget I drink. Alcohol is necessary for a man so that he can have a good opinion of himself, undisturbed be the facts. Once, during Prohibition, I was forced to live for days on nothing but food and water. The whole world is about three drinks behind. I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Lol rotaries are no more likely to break than a normal engine. Slightly higher maintenance because they are such a high revving engine, but my uncle owns an RX2 that has done 270xxxkms and is still going strong, only serious problems have been with the exhaust, and the suspension.
Pretty much like buying a GTR, make sure you buy a good one... So pretty much like buying any car lol

Go the RX-7!!!! If I wasn't so in love with the R34 I would buy a RX-7 though if you like R34's why don't you just sell yours and then buy a manual R34?
Why Drink and Drive when you can Drift and Slide.....

Well I tried to buy the RX-7. Seems I was half a day late. I got in touch with the importer one morning and he said someone had already signed onto it yesterday afternoon/evening. He said if it fell through it was mine but it seems it is all locked up.
I thought about buying a manual R34 karbie, but I figure I have "Been there" and "Done that" and its time for a new toy. I think an Autech Stagea would be my option up against an R34 if I was to stay in the "Skyline Family".
I've currently got the importer on the hunt for a Legnum for me in Japan. But If another low km Series 8 RX-7 comes up <$20,000 I'll go for that definitely. I'd be also interested in a Supra or Chaser, but definitely RX-7 and Legnum are on the top of my list at the moment.
If anyone sees anything let me know
Ten Four, the only Euro on my mind is an RS6 Avant, let me know when a cheap one comes up and I'll come and join you in poser-town
