I hate when you post up links to Gumtree. Always means bad things for me Unfortunately I'll need an EFI conversion as well, but that's pretty awesome!! If I don't do a diesel conversion THAT is definatelt looking good! Lol.
Hopefully I can drive the old girl home tonight. Fingers crossed...

The good news is I drove the old girl home tonight! Well... Almost
Was supposed to drive both Patrol and Swift home tonight, but Swift got locked up next door so drove Patrol instead. First thing I noticed was how unstable it was!! The castor is seriously out, it wanders all over the place and a few times I forgot to manually turn the wheels back to centre after taking a turn and nearly crashed, but I'll get used to it until I can get it fixed.
I say almost cos I picked up my mate (who has troubles getting in due to his recovering broken collar bone ), drove to Mount Lawley to look at a car, back to Mirrabooka, then got 100m down the road and lost my brakes! Limped it back to my mates place so find a blown rear brake line. FFFUUUUUUUU. So that's as far as we got tonight. Mates giving me a lift to work tomorrow so I can pick up the Swift, and I'll take a spare brake line into Enzed to get another (longer) one made up. Hopefully it lasts more then 3 hours before coming off the road again this time around James' Rangie is supposed to be the unreliable one, not my Patrol!! Lol.
Looks awesome though... She's a MONSTER!

Guess I should probably update this. I made up a dodgy adapter from the 4WD selector shaft to the selector on the transfer case as the factory one had rusted out. It sure aint pretty, but works perfectly! Beats rolling around on the ground!! Worked great out on the dunes of Two Rocks, not that switching to highrange ever got my any further! Lol.
As I said, I went up to Two Rocks with the WCC boys. Had an absolute ball!! The old girl went better then I expected, powered up most hills, and never got stuck. I think there was only one hill I couldnt get up that my mate in his GQ ute could, and no one else made it so I was happy with that Other then a few noises (Wheels rubbing on the rear flares, sway bar noises, and something from the front I havent diagnosed yet, dont think it was anything major though) it ran sweet. Grabbed a few pics to show off the flex:
My mate's leaf sprung GQ Patrol. Goes alright for an NA diesel with leaves all round:

Umm... I fucked up
Being dragged down the beach about 10-20m to get it off the large hill so we could pull it back onto its wheels.
All in all, she's not too bad. Dented both doors, the fender and cracked the front windscreen. Hopefully all the panel damage can be pushed out. Also needs a good clean out, all my shit went EVERYWHERE in the roll over.
All in all, no major harm done. There's a first for everything though, right?

I just walked with it. I'm 100% fine, it only happened at 20km/h if that.
Fender is off at work, passenger door doesn't want to bend back I've bent the body as well, the passenger door doesn't close easily, so I might start pricing up a new body. I can't afford this

Rhys, you have a hole in your middle resonator.
If you bought a proper 4wd, this would never have happened.
Wait, maybe it could be the overbalancing headweights...

I get it further then any Rangie, Disco, or Jeep pos that I see up there. Was out with a Disco last Friday too. So don't give me that real 4WD shit!
Actually any 4WD in my situation woul have done the same thing. Just thinking if my wheel alignment had been sorted, this may not have happened
Here's the damage, anyway.
And how it sits now outside work
Going to start drilling some holes in the door skins and use the slide hammer to pull the dents out. if this doesn't work, then it's being pulled apart and a ute cab going on.

Body is still bent though But after playing around with it today, I might buy some doors and fender. I'm not a great panel beater, hahaha. Got laughed at by the blokes at work when I was jumping up and down on the fender trying to bend it back. Lol.
Note to self... You paid for all 4 tires. Fucken use them!!

Well lucky you have got a cheaper and older 4WD so parts aren't to expensive or hard to come by.
Looking good too, besides the damage. You might as well just do a body lift if you decide to swap over a new body.

Yeah, that's it. I remember saying in a 4WD cruise thread that when I get a 4WD, I couldn't get one that's too nice in case I roll it... Glad I listened to myself! Lol
Might go for a body lift, but 35s would fit fine at the moment so not sure if there is any need to go any higher, besides to watch people complain when they try to get into it
The other issue with the body lift is engine compatibility. A mate has a cheap Holden 5L he wants me to buy, but if I put the body lift in the power steering will foul on the body. The tray will definitely be lifted though, giving it a better departure angle.

Yeah would be difficult to get in. all you need is those climbing ropes out of the door sill.
Power steering will foul on the body? Usually you get an adapter to extend the steering shaft. Not sure about the engine but you shouldn't have to do anything to it unless your hoses and wires are short.
I guess once you do the body lift you're going to have to lift the bull bar too, otherwise it will have a big gap in between body and bar.
EFI is always better. Would like to see an RB into your patrol instead of a Holden engine.

That was what I read on the Mark's 4WD Adaptors website. Cos it obviously sits out further on the V8. Also, body lifts can start to damage the mounting points over time. Another thing I've read. We'll see how we go, but she's plenty high enough for now.
Unfortunately, the 3L and 4.2L gearboxes are different. If I had bought a 3L onezc I would have put all the EFI stuff from the 31 onto it straight away, and an RB25 would have bolted straight in. Unfortunately I have a 4.2, and I've always wanted a V8! Lol

Quick update, I've done more damage to the old girl... Managed to get her stuck in a giant puddle the other day, with water halfway up the doors! So the carpet has been stripped out and I'm slowly cleaning her up. Front seats are back in, rears going in this weekend when I can be bothered. Not going to bother with replacing it at this stage, cos the body needs to be replaced anyway.
Also installed a CB radion (FINALLY!!) so that required drilling some holes into my dash. I'm not 100% happy about where its located, but it'll do the job. I'll take some photos of it when I get a chance.
Finally, I've found another Patrol for sale on Gumtree for $1800. It has a reasonably straight body from what I can see, is registered and just needs a new carby. I've been thinking about buying it and either swapping everything over from mine into this one (if the engine/diff/transfer/gearbox are ok) or just swapping the bodies and parting out the other one. It has done more kms and there is nothing wrong with my driveline except for the valve stem seals, so might just do a body swap and part the other one out. Not sure yet, need to think about it a bit more.
