Ever since I developed a love of cars, I've always wanted a 4WD, so finally got it today in the form of a 1989 Nissan Patrol GQ. Picked it up today from Ledge Point for the low price of $3000. Quality wise its got a bit of rust in the roof and splatted around the place, but nothing major. I couldnt own something too clean, otherwise I'd be too scared to take it off road and give it shit.
So anyway, here she is:
My two girls together:
Spent about 8 hours working on it today.
Changed oil and filter, added some lifter free to try and shut up the noisy tappets
Installed the headunit from the R31 (its coming in handy already!)
Removed about 5m of useless wiring
Rewired the UHF
Moved the UHF antenna cos it was easier then rewiring it.
Who ever wired this thing up deserves to be shot! The UHF wiring was running along the top of the motor! The UHF wiring was randomly looped around the place, and there is an electronic fuel pump that is just connected up to itself, doing fuck all.
Tomorrow I'll try and fit some rear seatbelts from the R31, flush the mud out of the cooling system, replace the spark plugs, and if I can be bothered buying a feeler gauge, I'll adjust the tappets as well.
Still trying to decide what I want to do with it in the future. Thinking 3in suspension lift, 2in body lift, some 33s, new bullbar, roof cage, a few spotties, the usual shit. It'll be set up mainly as a tourer, because my parents live down in Cowaramup, as long as its decent offroad.
Anyway, thats my latest toy. Should be good fun! Funds will be split between this and saving for a house, but it'll get there eventually. Will grab some better shots tomorow. If anyone has anymore ideas, throw them out here!

Lol. Wanna come?
Wheel allignments arent too expensive, make a huge difference too. Helps when Ian Diffan's give me a good price and are a 2 minute walk down the road!

Might need some new wheels and tires before then though. The spare is a 31x10 on a 15in rim but its fucked, and the other tires are 235/85R16sm skinny as fuck Pumped to bring it out 4WDing you blokes though.
Well, better get back into it!

Lol, thats what I'm scared of with this one
$3k is very good! Bit dodgy, but nothing too bad. I'm having fun fixing it all now, nothing major.
HiLux's are good, but a bit underpowered. 80 Series Cruisers are pretty decent if they are in your price range.
