Hey people, heres whats up. my rear coilover(s) off my 33 gtst have been making a decent thudding noise everytime i go over a bump, for a good 4 months or so. wasnt really fussed as i was told they just get noisy overtime yet can still functon properly. though i noticed over the last few days the outerwall of my rear left tyre is peeling off strips of rubber from scraping the inner wheel arch.
If they are knackered, is it worth reconditioning them, or just replacing them? THanks.
*EDIT* jesus i think my brain just got hi-jacked for a while there.. i dont have friggen tein coilovers, they are actually HKS LOL, dunno what i was thinking sorry.
well thanks anyway Rhys, ill try steer clear from teins in the future for that reason. and nah im no circuit racer

You'll have to send them over east to rebuild them, and the costs add up. From what I've read, it pretty much costs the same either way, although the upside is you can have them rebuilt to any specs you want. However, you never struck me as the serious circuit racer, so that may not excite you a whole lot.

Haha, good work. HKS are even more expensive, pretty much throw sways when fucked. I love my TIENs, would definitely buy again.

The best thing you can do is check all of the bushings and the pillowball mounts for signs of wear.
It's easy to remove them one at a time with a couple of spanners and a jack, literally. They are so easy to do. You'll more than likely find the bushings to be worn out, which is causing the knocking.
Steps:
1: Loosen wheel nuts.
2: Jack car each wheel at a time.
3: Remove wheel.
4: Undo lower pin nut.
5: Undo top nuts at tower.
6: pull out coilover.
This should take you about an hour. It is THAT easy.

changed the coilovers on the weekend, much easier than i expected. man its nice when the car doesnt bottom out on every bump, haha. took me 7 hrs total to do all 4 corners, pulling seats out, fiddling with height, damper etc.

Not is 33s you can't, you gain access from under the parcel shelf, through the rear seats.

I remember doing James' GT-R stereo install and seeing the towers from inside the boot.
It can't surely be different in the Gts-25t?

gonna try sell the old set of HKS hipermax coilovers. the 2 front ones seem ok, but the 2 rear ones are empty, springs and everything else look ok.
would anyone have a clue how much they'd be worth?
