Turns out there's more problems with my starlet than first thought!
These are the current quotes I have from the mechanic near me who's generally pretty good with prices, will go looking after I post this.
My radiator is shot, will cost $750 to replace, flush system etc.
Shocks are fucked, anywhere from $500-800
Brakes will need changing soon, as will the timing belt.
Not sure if the shock would be the reason for my front left wheel sitting at a slightly off angle and causing uneven wear, so i'll stick with that would need the strut/brace replaced.
All this in mind, I've considered selling the old girl and picking up a 1991 2.2 Liberty. Apparently "meticulously looked after" as they all say, but looks in pretty good nick for 220,000kms. For 4,700. Obviously could talk them down a bit more, but what do you think? Do you think it's worth the repairs, or sell asis and pick up another car, such as the liberty? Is there anything I should look out for in this liberty?
Thanks for your help

mmm, my radiator was only $200 and it's wayyy better than the stock RB25DET one about 12mm better infact, half an hour fitting later it's shweeeet. Had to buy more coolant of course..
Total cost was $220 and a sexual favour to Allen for watching over me as i did it..

Definitely rephrase that. My R31 radiator was $100 off Allen. Coolant maybe $29? Had to be done anyway. Say the job takes 2 hours to do, at $100 an hour. That's $200 labour, $100 parts, $20 consumables. $320 is a fair way from $750!!

My Supra had a new alloy rad - $270
Flushed 4 times to get all shit out < dad mechanic = 150-200 (roughly, did other things too, inc coolant)

wow dude. $750!! we got our fords done for like $200!!
Struts actually are not to bad to replace
I had an accident and needed my steering rack, struts and shocks replaced and it was only like $600
I second allen on rephrasing !
