Has anyone had this problem before?
Or anyone know the solution or a good replacement for the HICAS system?
Cheers

Some work with hicas (expensive), some don't.
Either get a lock bar (not really necessary), put stock wheel back on, or get a boss kit that works with hicas.
Or just pull the globe...

It'll do it as long as you've got that boss kit.

It did it with the stock wheel and its a hicas boss kit
I'm thinking of getting a lock bar tbh

Im not being a smart ass but have you checked the power steering fluid level? I would imagine you have already.I get a warning light on my dash randomly and its like driving a missionary tank when I do.
Cheers
Hicas is only crap if you intend on sliding the car sideways all the time. It does make it difficult to keep the car straight sideways. Apart from that, i think the hicas is good.

HICAS light = error code stored in computer.
HICAS computer does have a diagnostics system similar to RB20 ECU's where a certain number of flashes equals a corresponding error code.
HICAS light coming on, doesn't neccesarily mean there is currently/still something wrong.

my 32 has fluid reservoirs in front and back. I have had Hicas light flick on and off intermittantly before cos of low fluid level in the front one.
GTR = AWD, atessa in the back

In the R33, later versions and some models used Super HICAS, and it's controlled by an electric actuator on the diff housing, and you just pull the harness connector, reef the bastard off, and throw it in the bin. The earlier versions and other models used the hydraulic HICAS which is why you'll find them in some 33's.
If you remove or disconnect the HICAS computer under the rear parcel shelf, you will lose your speed sensitive steering which is controlled by this unit. As soon as you remove the HICAS, the fault light will illimunate, so you just pull the globe to stop it from pissing you off.
The ATTESSA-ETS (AWD system) is contolled by a pump on the rear of the gearbox and the reservior for this is in the boot. The ATTESSA is controlled by a computer which is also located under the rear parcel shelf, and G-sensors under the center console.
Any more questions?
