Hey Guys,
I blew a headlight globe today... globes only 1yr old, oh well... I have decided to replace them with the retrofit HID's 6000k.
Does anyone know whether the ebays ones are straight plug and play into the standard H1 socket? They claim to be. I dont want to do any modifications to the plugs to get them to fit properly. It looks like the wiring to my lights are already somewhat modified because its not using the standard plug. two wires seem to be tapped into the original plug then attached to the H1 style globe. I presume I can just attach the ballast to those 2 wires and clip the HID globe into the headlight. (projector style)
Cheers

I've got eBay HIDs in my 33, fitted up nicely. Just need to drill out the rear dusk caps, but thats it. I did a bit more work to mine cos I hid the ballasts in the fron bumper (What HIDs officer?) but they are piss easy to install. I dont think other road users like them tho...

I got no dust caps on either of my headlights... only on the high beams. Im gonna try hide mine as well, Im hoping to dip them a bit as well if they are too bright. alternatively I have seen the low wattage ones (35w over 55w) on ebay, but dunno if they would be any good

Rhys' ones are 55watt, supposed to be for high beam, but I like to blind all road users (bought for S13 - wrong bulb type = Rhys)
Gav, I'm probably going to get some for my GTR too, so let us know what you're doing?

Well that expains a lot... I got them for doing a service to James' car, so it was a pretty good deal for me!
If you haven't got them before the next cruise, I'll show you where I put mine. Alternatively, it won't be hard for me to take a few photos as the headlights are still out.

These are the 2 types Im looking at...
35W
http://cgi.ebay.com....=item3caf4101ce
http://cgi.ebay.com....=item2eab45ebbe
(I dont think they are philips)
55W
http://cgi.ebay.com....=item27b8b74582
I am thinking 55w is for high beam and will be too bright for standard driving...

They're all the same lolz. (All China, unless you spend like $500 per kit)
It is rather bright...
Next time you meet up with Rhys, get him to show you the difference between the HIDs and his high beam

There is a big difference between my high beams and low beams, but not in the way you'd think

No worries, I ended up getting the 'philips' ones... obviously not philips but they seemed better and were a little more expensive then the other ones. plus the dude had a better feedback rating

haha true!
I fitted them today. globes fit straight in... my headlight wiring was dodgy aready, tried to fix it all up but had limited time. I wacked them in temporarily just to see how they work. I plan to mount the ballasts properly after I get back from holidays...
Pics to follow when I get a chance.

I forgot to add... bloody awesome lights! I may need to adjust headlights down a little. They make high beam look like shit!
Maybe one day get 55w High beam HIDs to match!
