Fog lights are legal when it's foggy. Other then that, it's a $150 fine and 2 points. I was threatened with it once, I turned them on during the hills and forgot to turn them off.
I also turn them on when I've only got one headlight. I'll get a sticker either way, but at least on coming cars know I'm a car not a motorbike.

Wrong dude. Difference between fog lights and what I think you are referring to, Daytime Running Lights, is the light pattern. Fog lights are seperate to the headlights and MUST be either yellow or white, rear ones must be red. They are designed to improve visibility in poor conditions, and it is against Australian Road Rules to use them otherwise as the blind oncoming drivers.

Driving lights are used to supplement high beams and are wired to turn on when the high beams are switched on.

Daytime running lights, which is what I think you believe your lights to be, are lights that are wired to switch on when the engine starts and are designed to make the vehicle easier to see to other drivers, such as the LED lights and angel eyes on Audi´s/Beamers etc.

As your lights are on a seperate switch they are clearly fog lights. Just switch them off dude, they do nothing for you if it isn´t foggy but the do blind other drivers.

Well if traffic cops cant tell the difference what chance does the average driver have lol

Day Time Running lights produce only a little amount of light. They are there so people can see them, but they dont illuminate the road in anyway.
Fog/spot/drive lights are completely different.

Exactly ^^

They are like the reflectors on a bicycle. They do nothing for the driver, they just make it easier for other people to see. Sort of like parker lights except they switch on automatically when you turn the car on. Companies like Audi and BMW and Merc just made them look fkn awesome while they were at it.

So Paul, I've got little driving lights on the front of the 34 and I went through a booze bus and they said I've got to turn them off. I was like WTF man they are part of the car lights (but there not really).
I've got a switch for them and the cop pointed it out. I was like fuck! He told me to turn them off. I was like why do I have to turn them off for, there driving lights? The cop was like, nah there fog lights.

Fog lights are yellow or orange.
Driving lights are clear.

My lights on the front of the 34 are clear.

haha arguing with a cop is soo not the best idea.. just say yes sir and turn them off.

just agree with them and you get let off :D
