Sure, why not?
Pretty sure as long as there arent any sharp edges and they dont still out TOO far, then its alright. I mean, my Patrol has flares that sticks out about 100mm, and the old Torries had flares like that.

but would mean i'd need to get a coupe
cut the wheel arches out = not good for originality

You will most likely need engineers reporst for cutting the car and widdening the track. (how wide apart the tyres sit)
