Aaaah yes, I forgot the most important part.
Rhys, is one mad cunt. We made a minor fuck up some night during the week, which he corrected for me, and hence the car is now rolling again.
SO.
Thanks Rhys.
I'll be pulling the motor out during the week man, but help to get it back in would be appreciated
I pulled an all nighter with Jason working on his car. Went from an empty engine bay and a bare motor, to loaded up motor (mods, like fuel rail, intake, ignition, etc), sitting in the engine bay, all hooked up, ready to rock and roll, just needed fluids - we're getting real good and working quickly on the Ceffies.
However, being awake from 6:30AM Friday Morning until 13:30 Saturday, really fucked me up. Went through like, 2 Iced Coffee's, 3x Can of V, Macca's AND Red Rooster, over the night, and morning....no wonder I woke up with am migraine, and dehydrated.
I do hope everyone else had a much better weekend

Motor back out again, I had some serious heart attack moments tonight trying to get that out.
I got halfway, the crane got bogged down (uneven surface) and almost tipped over.
Had to stand there keeping the crane from falling for about 30 mins while I waited for my mate to rock up, even then we still needed his missus' help, but it's all out now.
Picture of the EXTREME angle the motor+box came out.
60-80 degree's somewhere.
Now, time to get the new gearbox on, and fix the broken one.

Car was at normal ride height.
Engine crane was almost topped out. The ram was on contact with the roof.
I took that photo standing on my reo-bar crouching down a bit. I was getting vertigo effect happening there for a second ay....wasn't cool.
NOTE: motor also came out with gearbox and extractors on it

I havent pulled an engine and gearbox out like that in a normal situation (I cut the front off a wrecked WRX and removed it all that way once!) but I thought the front had to be lifted to clear? Obviously not.
And they don't make engine cranes high enough!! Although in your situation you needed a higher roof! Haha

Nah came out pretty easy.
Controlled the engine height with the crane, once the gear shifter opening was visible in the engine bay, we attatched a tie down strap and ratchet around it, and used that off the roof of the shed to control the height of the gearbox end...just a matter of lifting massively high at the motor end, raising gearbox, dropping motor end to level it out, and then rolled the car back down the driveway.
Whilst the gearbox was still in the tunnel we used a floorjack underneath the centre of the gearbox (floorjack facing same direction as drivetrain) to allow it to move around and give limited height control from inside the tunnel.
The only obstacle is keeping an eye on the lower half of the bell housing, to make sure it doesnt damage the hard lines on the power steering rack. Then it's just the usual attention like air con radiator and firewall clearance.

Some progress and some obstacles:
Old gearbox gone to a new home where it should be fixed and loved.
New gearbox ready to rock and roll
Problems
Thrust bearing and housing on new gearbox, fucked - FIXED
Box is from N/A R34 and doesnt use speedo cable, but infact an electrical sensor - FIXED (for now, pending speed register check and seal on the box)
Also got an R32 GTR shifter, which is about 2/3 or even less the length of the standard shifter, whilst this is adventageous, it might actually be TOO short, will have to wait and see.
As I detailed earlier, here is a picture of my intricate motor/box lifting device, which is easy to operate with one, or two persons
As you can see, the tie down ratchet strap holds the gearbox end, as the crane holds the motor, which allows both to be raised/lowered equally and independently which is how we aquire some extreme angle (seen in other pictures above).
The floorjack also provides limited height control of the gearbox end when it's inside the tunnel. It's still pretty hard as you need to keep the floorjack as parallel to the driveline as possible, but it certainly does help.
Also took a shot of the Ceffy, looking übër tough with its 9"' on the front.

Motor and gearbox back in now, with R32 GTR gear shifter, which is fucking SHORT indeed.
Comparison - here is the GTST shifter which was a tad longer than the factory manual Cefiro shifters
(LINK) <- selector is in fourth gear in picture.
Here is a 1st->Neutral->Second sequence with GTR shifter. Not the huge amounts of slack in the shift boot.
First
Neutral
Second
At least this fixes the issue with the shift boot stretching, looks alot better now.
Now sorting out the wiring and looking for exhaust solutions.
Almost ready to go back on the road....2 months later :\

Short throw is pretty good, I love my short shifter. You'll get used to it.
Looks good mate! Sorry I couldnt help put it back in Hopefully its not long now to get the thing back on the road!
How much wiring do you need to do?

Not too much wiring. The cashie job guy did most of the work, I need to find a stable power source(s) for the ECU to power up, and I think it's only the wiper motor speed that I need to work out.
AFM needs to be wired up but that's all sorted out, just need to test it.
Hitting up Mayhem tomorrow for a gearbox mount, as the one on the new box is somehow torn into two pieces....
Will try to organise a cashie to do the exhaust sometime this week either before or after I fire it up.
Before would be better, but see how it goes.
COULD be running by this weekend.
