What color?

I'm after a white one, manual, either DE or DET, and reason being I just want something different, I like 32 sedans, and I'm over finding parts - people really don't realize how stupidly difficult it is to find replacement parts for Cefiro's :(

Well, I'm bored at the moment.
Alot has happened to this thing since I updated it last.

Thought I'd do a quick update for anyone on here that'll read this.

I blew 2 clutches, 2 gearboxes, my fan munched up 2 radiators (turned out to be water pump..), my fuel tank rusted out (I may have already covered that in this thread?) and I had endless problems with the RB20DET.

My door arrived from Japan with a dent in it, the right side of the car looked hideous for a while.
Posted Image

It came off the road circa-June 2011 when I got a month's notice on my last job.
I needed to rely on the car daily, so I spent a good couple of grand on it.
Posted Image
It was relatively forgiving to me for about 6 months of daily driving.

Some bits and pieces
Cusco arms
Posted Image
S2 centre console
Posted Image
GTR sway bar (makes huge difference)
Posted Image

Sprayed the straight guard with color-coded aerosol cans.
Posted Image
Front bar was next, just to clean it up a bit.
Posted Image

That pic was taken straight after I put it back on, after some time out in the sun the color eventually faded in some more, it looked closer but still not the same in color.
Definitely took away unwanted attention.

Rear bar got redone next.
Posted Image

Early Jan 2012, the 20 started playing up again.
Blew a hose and dropped most of it's coolant on the top floor of Morley Galleria, fixed that up, and had a problem with it running on all 6 full time.
Eventually developed some big end rattle which worsened under load.

I'd been working some hardcore overtime at my new job (up to 80-90 hours a week) and had some cash to spend.
I'd bought an RB25DET through Maytech about a month before the 20 went, and about a week before it went, I spent ~$600 at Nissan on gaskets, fasteners, etc.
Pretty well timed. I didn't even bother working out what exactly happened to the 20DET, or chasing up it's warranty.

I had the motor and box out in ~1 hour by myself.
Posted Image

I spent roughly 2 hours on 2 nights putting new gaskets, exhaust bolts, etc on, swapping over clutch, lightened flywheel, and putting the 20 box onto the 25.
I gave the loom to a contact I got from Maytech, that got it all sorted over night.
I got the motor and box in and loosely mounted on the third night.
Posted Image
Posted Image

My mate had a BBQ cranking on Australia Day, naturally, we spent most of the day standing around talking shit, not actually working.
Got the motor running first go that night.
Posted Image
Started up smooth, and had nil drama's.
68000kms on the motor.

Job total was about 10 hours labor (me + 1 mate)

Just as we got it running, it began to rain.
4.8kg flywheel was on the motor, so it was rather touchy in the rain but didn't take long to get used to the new power delivery.
Was a massive relief to have it back on the road and reliable.
Nothing blew up, or dissapeared, or broke.

I cleaned it up a little a couple of weekends later.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Some more stuff from Japan arrived.

Front lip
Posted Image
Posted Image

Trust/GReddy twin pipes (I never put these on the car, these are reserved for my 26DETT project)
Posted Image

Trust/GReddy down pipe + split dump pipe (not pictured)
Tad bigger than the stocker
Posted Image
Posted Image

New pads and machined rotors.
Posted Image

I was on a roll with shit not breaking, so I did some more performance mods

FMIC (yeah I make a big mess I know)
Posted Image

Test drive went good
Posted Image

Front bar fits over it all too
Posted Image

I imported some Stage21 side skirts and rear bar (FRP), pretty much as soon as they arrived, the car was off for some panel and paint work.

Front bar resprayed, hole for parking antenna removed
Front lip plastic welded back together, resprayed
Front right guard resprayed
Side skirts resprayed (2-tonne)
Rear bar resprayed (2-tonne)
Rear right door resprayed + dent removal
Front right door resprayed
Mirrors + 2 rust spots (both doors) removed + resprayed

The job was rushed a bit, and I didn't bother chasing the guys up over it.
With a decent clean it still comes up very shmick.
One panel is slightly off-color but I'll just ignore that, since nobody has noticed yet.

Had a bit of maintenance work to do one weekend, took the opp. to clean it up a bit more.
Posted Image
Since I needed to get the manifold off, I cleaned it up with a wire wheel and some degreaser.
Posted Image
Same with the upper half, throttle body, and crossover pipe.
Posted Image

Posted Image

So, that, in a very inconsistent nutshell, brings this thread up to date.

RB25DET
Reliable :o
Alot cleaner inside and out.
