S/H sump and pickup with new gasket kit.
How it looked before starting any work.
Me starting to pull things apart.
New carby is on.
New HEI dizzy in.
New water pump on.
New harmonic balancer on.
Pic of how it looks now.
After running out of day light, the next stage is to replace the sump, change the stuffed muffler, install the new spark plug leads, replace the alternator, do the thermo fans and wire it up. New oil and oil filter will go in as well as replacing the inline fuel filter and sparkies. Its all starting to come together.

Looking good man, some nice goodies hanging off her now. But FUCK ME that dizzy is big!!! Wow!! Lol
Perhaps you should do away with bonnet latch and hinges, and just install 4 bonnet pins? Then put 4 on the roof so you have a solid mount for the quick release bonnet

Lol I agree it is a massive Dizzy, looks so big in comparison to the other motor parts, once it gets dirty it might match the rest and not stand out so much.
And I agree with Al, Sort out the cooling issue, I cant tow a horse float without a bonnet. lol

I still believe that alot of the heat comes from the exhaust manifolds. Because they are cast in one piece, they seem to hold the heat. I made an enquiry with the guy at 4wd USA about some replacement aftermarket exhaust headers and he said there was some available for the AMC 360 in a 60 series cruiser but the price was $440 for the pair. A bit pricey i thought.
We will see how it goes with what im going to do first and i will go from there. I have to solve this cooling issue, its the only thing letting it down.
Hey Al, there must be something about us having 4wd's with cooling issues. Were jinxed.

Worth the money if it saves us having to rip the bonnet off every time we go out man. Also, talk to Kermit and see if he can fabricate some for a cheaper price.price was $440 for the pair. A bit pricey i thought.
Mine will be sorted. I've pulled the engine down to fuck all and there's a few issues with crank and rod bearings and rings, but other than that the block is good. The head however is a different story, it may be cracked. I have to have it tested to see what the outcome is. The water pump was fine, but I have yet to check the radiator. Also there was a broken water temp sensor that you saw when we reefed the engine out. I don't think that has anything to do with it because it's a sensor for the glow plug operation only.Hey Al, there must be something about us having 4wd's with cooling issues. Were jinxed.
I think it's the head.
