Been slack and haven't posted this yet. Red got its sump changed last week.

Take a lookski. Theres now heaps of clearance between the diff and sump.


Old sump and pickup was absolutely no good.


Old pickup was a custom made job like the sump. The pickup was made from using copper pipe and elbow fittings all soldiered together. The position of the pickup wasn't even in the bottom of the bowl of the sump. Hence the reason why i had dramas with having to overfill it to get good oil pressure. It was totally up the the shit, but not any more.


Next is wheels, paint job and do that dam exhaust again. I think i will have to go with some custom made exhaust manifolds coz the ones that are on it are shit for sealing and they generate too much heat under the bonnet. Money money money.

Well as some might of read already, Red went well on the weekend going away. Cooling problem is now solved with the new replacement thermo fans but i have to look at getting a higher amp relay as the one i have cant hack the power being drawn from the new thermo fans.

Next on the list is a complete brand new custom made exhaust system from front to rear and set of Maxxis tyres all round. Hopefully in a few weeks time this will get done.

After that its paint job, tint the windows and she's all finished.

LOL i just had a thought. I will need 2 new spotties too coz on the way up to Wedge, one of my spotties broke off going under the car smashing it to bits with it then flicking up and landing straight on Allens windscreen putting 2 chips in it. Woooops!!!! Solly....

I forgot to ask you something about that. That was in second gear. Did it leave a black mark apart from throwing stones at your car?

Red got a new starter motor fitted yesterday. The old one died in the ass luckily enough being at home. I pulled the starter motor apart after it was removed and bits of melted wire fell out of the solenoid. Hmmm yep it's stuffed i thought. $269 dollars later, its all happy again. While i was under the car, i adjusted the clutch. Its much better now to get 1st and reverse gears.

Little bit by little bit, its getting finished.

Red got some tyres about a couple of months ago. Cooper Discovery ST's. They certainly made a difference when 4wd.



Next on the list is exhaust, then window tinting and then finally a Red paint job. After that, she's all finished. The only slight problem that im having lately is with it jumping out of 4wd all the time. I think i have a broken engine mount which is causing the problem. We shall see if im right.

Yep problem solved with that one. I havent had a cooling issue since the EL-EF thermo fans went in. They are bloody brillant. I can now see why drag guys use them for racing.

As i suspected. Red has a busted engine mount. Got to replace before next 4wd cruise as im getting crapped off with it jumping out of 4wd all the time.
